Dance mom

So my boss is still out of town. Needless to say that between the office full time and my boss' kids full time I AM EXHAUSTED! (I nanny for the same person who owns the hair school that I do compliance for.) This weekend since she is still gone I got to play dance mom. I've learned that I am not a good dance mom. Mostly because I only care to watch the only kid there I care about. Also do you know how much work goes into these dance competitions? My friend has a kid who is on a company team is in high school and dances more in a week then most people work and I now have no idea how she does it.

ANYway it all starts the night before. I had to take her in to get a spray tan which isn't to hard since I work at a hair school... the hard part is not letting her touch anything until its dry! Then set her hair and send her to bed. She doesn't sleep all night so the next morning when we have to get up at the crack of down we are both a little snippy. Fun Fact, I am really not a morning person. So we argue the whole process of hair and makeup and she gets flipped with the comb a few times because she will not hold still! Two hours (SERIOUSLY TWO. HOURS.) later she is ready.

Even though I tried to feed her this whole process she hasn't had anything to eat. So of course right as we are about to walk out the door to make the hour drive she notices she is starving. And that she forgot to take her toe nail polish off. We finally get on the road and arrive at the competition. The wrong competition as it turns out... So we ran back to the car as fast as we could because now we are just about late. Luckily at this point I knew exactly where to go.

I dropped her off with her team and spent the next three hours in the auditorium reading a book instead of watching the other teams because every single kid that comes out I think, mine is better than yours! Its finally her turn to dance. She looks so good and does so good and I couldn't be more proud of her! After a minute and a half she is done and I have to sit there for another two hours before I can finally take her home.

I asked her what she wanted for dinner on our way back. It was just the two of us so she could have anything she wanted. She chose Taco Bell. I threw up a little bit when she said that but whatever, First place winners can have whatever they want.

Day at the Office.

I work at a hair school. I do federal compliance, which means I do a whole lot of paperwork. Sounds boring but I actually really like it. IF you have ever dealt with a government agency you know that they speak a totally different language. They never tell you exactly what they want. Its like a puzzle, all the information is in the letter but you have to piece it together to figure it out. I am very good at piecing the mumble jumble together and I love when they cant find anything that needs fixing. My boss hates it. Shes does not think of it as a fun puzzle and thanks her lucky stars she found me to do it for her.

Right now I am working on an application that needs to be submitted by the end of the next week. The first thing I need to start a project is office supplies! I do have my favorite binders, tabby and sticky notes that I have to have. I love office supplies... Then I start to collect all the information I need. This always results every available surfaces covered in everything I need. I know it gives my boss anxiety because it looks like a natural disaster for the first few days, but its organized I swear.

I usually put headphones in to keep me from getting distracted. Actually I put them in so people wont bother me because I get a little snappy when I am interrupted. I don't mean to be but once I am in the zone I have a hard time stepping out of it. I am the only one in the office this week though so I couldn't do that. So my disaster was bigger than normal because I had to keep stopping to help students. So... here is some pictures to show you the stages of my crazy...

New Floor!

Well people, I finally came to the conclusion I needed to tear up the carpet by the door and lay tile to match the kitchen. I will be moving to a new apartment soon and I want my deposit back! Now I am actually pretty handy but who wants to do all the work when they have a dad just down the road! Not me! So I called up my dad and he came over. I only needed eight tiles so I thought it would be easy! I wasn't totally right... Turns out the squishy stuff under the carpet is nails down in about a million places! Also the bottom of carpet makes me super itchy. I got it all pulled up before my dad got here and found wood floors! who carpets over wood floors! crazy people. thats who. Although I am glad Murphy didn't ruin the wood floor... Anyway so then my dad showed up and we got the tile in. I spent a lot of time taking selfies and laying on the floor while he did the rest of the work but it turned out really good! We did cheat and used liquid nail to stick it to the floor so those tiles will never ever be coming up, and I had to wait three days before I could grout it (I did do that part myself)

Can you tell I cant figure out hoe to make the pictures go where I want them!!
