HAIR SHOW!

Whoa, Its been a minute! Sorry about that guys! I have a very valid excuse though, it has been hairshow season! Only the best season of the year! Let me explain...

I work at a cosmetology school. Every year we put on a charity hairshow for a local family shelter (the only family shelter in the area). Now when I say hairshow I don't mean some boring display of haircuts through the ages, or explanation of some new technique, but for the record as a licenses professional I do see the benefit of those types of shows and do enjoy them, but this is more like a fashion and hair extravaganza! Each year my boss picks a theme for the show and each student gets separated into segments with an instructor to supervise. This year was Legendary Love (previous years have been Best of Animation, Brother Grimm Bed Time Stories, Music Icons etc...).

When my boss finally announces the theme to the staff we also get to know what our segments are! The students don't get to know for a few more months after that. We actually don't tell the students a thing until 6 weeks before the show. This year my segment(yes I get a segment even though I mostly stay away from teaching) Davey Jones and Calypso! Ya Ya Ya I know, You have never heard of them. That doesn't matter! What matters is I can do whatever I want with it! (The previous years I have instructed Lady Gaga, Hansel and Gretel and I was a student in Corpse Bride) I love to make all the pieces huge, in your face and Avant Garde all the way.

I got assigned students from our second campus. So I had to travel back and fourth, about an hour away. It was worth it though because I had literally the best students! They had complete trust in my ideas and ran with them. each group get 200 dollars to cover makeup, costumes, hair and props. I make my students make their costumes out of mostly recycled items. I like the originally and creativity that it provides. The last two weeks before the show my group was completely done and ready to go on stage (mostly because I am a control freak)

The day of show we literally have groups that start at 3 in the morning! My group started at 4 but I regret not getting that extra hour! I had 9 students in my group and we ran around crazy all day! getting all that hair and makeup done, then driving all the way to our main campus for the show! I was hot gluing stuff onto models as they walked on stage!

It was AMAZING! well let me correct that, the light guy was/always is and idiot and misses every single que so he ruins the whole show-or at least for me anyway. But the costumes where fantastic, the music great, the hair amazing! every segment turned out so great! I was super happy with it! It was my most stressful year because I had to travel back and forth, but it was also my easiest year.... so you figure that out.

And then it was over. So sad. now I have to wait a whole year to start again. Don't worry though, The ideas never stop coming to me! I think I love hairshow so much because I am actually very creative but I don't get to use that side of my brain very often. So when I get a period of time that I get to do nothing but indulge in that part of my I go a little crazy. Then I return to my real life and feel a lot more secure about everything. I love being creative but I am more comfortable with my spread sheets and binders.... anyway here is some pictures I snapped with my phone of rehearsal, day of and getting ready! (my new phone because clumsy me dropped my stupid phone in the toilet and lost everything on it) in no particular order

I wish I would have got everyone but I missed about four models. I loved it though! The day of hairshow I put in 21 hours! I slept for a whole day after and it took about a week for me to fully recover. Worth it!

VEGAS BABY!!

And the party continues! So my cousin that I went on the cruise with is has a sister who is getting married. So of course we had to do the bachlorette party in Vegas right? With 19 of her closest friends of course!!

So when we got off the ship we hopped in the car ( and promptly hopped out since it was infested with aunts. It took us over an hour to deal with that disaster but that's another story ) and drove to Vegas!

It was so great! we rented and decorated this huge mansion with a pool, had a ton of food and a bunch of fun people. Friday we just hung out at the pool all night and got to know each other.

Saturday we spent the morning at the pool and then took a pole dancing class! We showed up, all 20 of us, and they couldn't believe how pic our group was! and then they found out that we were all sober and they couldn't believe it. It was a  lot of fun. Our instructor was hilarious and I got lots of video of my cousins-video that wont be posted, sorry guys.

After the pole dancing class we went to dinner on the strip and rented a party bus to drive us around all night! It was a great night! My cousin that planned it all did an incredible job! everything was planned down to the wire and everyone has an amazing time!

After all that partying I looked forward to getting home to my puppy. But I have missed being on vacation every minute since I came back. I would add picture but as you know what happend in Vegas.. #staysinvegas #stefsgettinhitched #partyhard
